The 'nightStand' was created to explore the creation of a drawer with legs. Explorations in fabrication techniques included veneer lamination, the creation of wooden drawer rails, and the combination of materials to create a functional yet playful piece. At first glance the cabinet appears to float effortlessly within the metal base. The curves created by bent laminated wood in combination with bent steel help the two distinct materials form a consistent design language. This piece won the Monarch Custom Plywood Award for exemplary skill, dedication, and creativity.
This piece was displayed during the 2020 Design TO Festival at Ignite Galley.
